What is Spindle View ICSI?
In patients showing poor fertilisation with IVF or conventional ICSI, Spindle View ICSI helps to achieve better fertilisation. It also provides a more detailed analysis of egg quality.
The technique uses a specialised polarised microscope, or Polscope, to visualise the meiotic spindle inside the egg during its final maturation. Seeing the spindle lets the embryologist align the egg for injection so the spindle is not damaged — something conventional ICSI cannot do, as it relies only on the position of the polar body as a marker.
