Polycystic ovary syndrome — now recognised as PMOS-PCOS — is the commonest hormonal cause of infertility, and one of the most treatable. With the right plan, most women with PMOS-PCOS go on to conceive.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal condition in which the ovaries contain many small follicles and ovulation becomes irregular or absent. It often causes irregular periods, difficulty conceiving, weight gain, acne and excess hair growth. As the symptoms not only affect the ovaries but endocrine systems across the body, PCOS is now renamed as PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
PMOS-PCOS is the most common cause of ovulatory infertility — but it is highly treatable. With weight and lifestyle support, ovulation-inducing medication and, where needed, IUI or IVF, the great majority of women with PMOS-PCOS are able to conceive.

Yes. PMOS-PCOS is one of the most treatable causes of infertility, and most women conceive with lifestyle changes, ovulation induction or, when needed, IUI or IVF.
Often significantly. Even a modest 5–10% weight loss can restore regular ovulation and improve the response to treatment.
Medication — usually tablets or gentle injections — that encourages the ovaries to release an egg, monitored by ultrasound to time conception.
Yes, with care. PMOS-PCOS ovaries can over-respond, so we use specific, OHSS-aware protocols and close monitoring to keep IVF safe.
PMOS-PCOS slightly raises some risks such as gestational diabetes, which is why pre-pregnancy health optimisation and good antenatal care matter.
