What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside it — on the ovaries, fallopian tubes and pelvic lining. It can cause painful periods, pelvic pain, pain during intercourse and, in many women, difficulty conceiving.
Endometriosis affects fertility in several ways — distorting pelvic anatomy, affecting egg quality and the tubes, and creating inflammation. Treatment is individualised: laparoscopic surgery helps in selected cases, and IVF is often the most effective route to pregnancy.

Yes. Many women with endometriosis conceive — naturally in milder cases, and with IVF, which is often the most effective treatment, in more significant disease.
It depends on the stage, your ovarian reserve, pain and age. Sometimes surgery helps; often, especially with reduced reserve, going directly to IVF is better. We advise individually.
