What Our Patients Tell Us

Common questions and experiences from women trying to conceive.

🤔

"I didn't realise timing mattered so much"

Many couples try for months without knowing the fertile window is only 5–6 days per cycle. Knowing when to try can dramatically change your chances.

📱

"My cycle is irregular — can I still use this?"

Yes. Enter your average cycle length. For very irregular cycles (varies by more than 7 days), ovulation tracking with LH strips or a specialist scan gives more precision.

🌡️

"I've been tracking BBT — how does that fit?"

Basal body temperature rises slightly after ovulation. Combined with this calculator, BBT tracking helps confirm ovulation actually occurred in your cycle.

💊

"I just came off the pill — is my cycle accurate?"

It can take 1–3 months for your natural cycle to return after stopping hormonal contraception. Track 2–3 cycles before relying fully on predictions.

😟

"We've been trying for 8 months with no result"

If you've been timing correctly for 6+ months (or 12 months if under 35), a fertility assessment is the right next step. It's not about trying harder — it's about understanding why.

💛

"Knowing my dates reduced our stress"

When both partners understand the fertile window, it takes away the guesswork and helps couples feel more in control of their journey.

"Timing intercourse correctly during the fertile window is one of the simplest, most powerful things a couple can do to improve their natural conception chances."

About This Tool — Important Information

This Ovulation Calculator estimates your fertile window based on the standard calendar method — using your last menstrual period date, cycle length, and luteal phase. Ovulation is estimated as: cycle length minus luteal phase days from the start of your last period. The fertile window covers the 5 days before ovulation, ovulation day itself, and 1 day after.

This tool works best for women with regular cycles. If your cycle varies by more than 7 days month to month, the predictions may be less accurate. Conditions such as PCOS, thyroid disorders, or recent hormonal contraceptive use can affect ovulation timing significantly.

For more precise ovulation tracking, LH (luteinising hormone) ovulation predictor kits, basal body temperature (BBT) charting, or a monitored ultrasound cycle with a fertility specialist are recommended alongside this calculator.
